California Lawyers Foundation (CLF) is teeing off the 2026 California Lawyers Association (CLA) Annual Meeting with its Second Annual Classic Fairways to Justice Golf Tournament. CLA members, judges, community leaders, and law students are invited for a day on the green at the Riverwalk Golf Club in San Diego on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, just five minutes from the Sheraton San Diego Resort where CLA’s Annual Meeting is being held beginning on Thursday, October 22nd.
The Classic Fairways to Justice Golf Tournament is the Foundation’s key fundraiser supporting student scholarships and educational initiatives that provide meaningful opportunities for students pursuing legal careers. CLF is the charitable army of CLA, committed to advancing excellence in the legal profession by helping prepare the next generation of legal professionals.
California Sports Lawyer® CEO and Managing Attorney Jeremy M. Evans is chairing the tournament event. He is the immediate past president of CLF and also served as president for CLA. He conceptualized the inaugural tournament, which was a huge success.
“Sports have a unique way of bringing people together, and this tournament reflects that same spirit within the legal profession,” explains Evans. “It creates opportunities for mentorship, connection, and community while supporting scholarships and educational initiatives for the next generation of legal professionals.”

The inaugural tournament held last year was well above par for the course. First year law student, Henry Mojica, with little golf experience excitedly remarking, “It was an incredible opportunity. I got a chance to meet some of the attorneys before we even began playing. I am interested in sports law and immediately made connections.”
A rare hole-in-one was achieved by a California State University, Long Beach graduate student, Hannah Jugar, who received a $5,000 scholarship presented by Jason Meyers, President and Founder of 19th Hole Productions and a 2026 tournament sponsor. Additionally, several CLA Sections generously sponsored the 2025 tournament. This year a “friendly competition” may be added.
Tournament organizers emphasize the fact that you don’t need to be a golfer to support the Foundation, inviting anyone who wants to attend to join players for the After-Party social as the sun begins to set or provide financial assistance as a sponsor. Individuals and firms will receive recognition, and all contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law.
